More federal stimulus money will flow to Kern County for several water-related projects, according to a Thursday press release from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office:

* The city of Wasco is getting $4.1 million to install residential water meters and another $2 million for a wastewater centrifuge project. The centrifuge project includes state water funding connected to the stimulus bill.

* In Arvin, $1.5 million will consolidate the Edmundson Acres Water System with the Arvin Community Services District.

* In Weldon, $451,000 will cover a water improvement project at South Fork Elementary School.

* In Pond, west of Highway 99 between Wasco and Delano, $436,000 will provide an arsenic treatment plant for Pond Elementary School's water system.

* A previously reported $33.4 million award will upgrade and expand Delano's wastewater treatment plant.

The local water quality improvement projects announced by Schwarzenegger Thursday were among 160 around California totaling $717 million. Some included state funds.
