Firefighters successfully battled five separate grass fires on both sides of Highway 99 Friday afternoon.
While the blazes were separate, they all occurred between Airport Drive and Olive Drive at close to the same time, according to a release from the Kern County Fire Department.
Approximately 14 firefighters worked the incident and crews were quickly able to extinguished the fires by 4 p.m, less than 45 minutes after they responded to calls.
One storage container was damaged slightly. Officers with the California Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control on the nearby freeway as the curiosity factor appeared to slow traffic.
No injuries were reported, and according to officials, the fires do not appear to be intentionally set, though investigation continues.
