Want to score a free one-day ticket to Disneyland?
The American Red Cross Kern Chapter is one organization that is teaming up with HandsOn Network to reward good citizens with Walt Disney's "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2010, Disney's New Year's goal is to inspire one million people to volunteer a day's worth of work in their communities. To celebrate the good deeds, each individual who volunteers will receive a one-day admission pass to either Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.
The Red Cross is one of the organizations that will provide interested community members the chance to volunteer.
"It's a great way to get involved in the community. Disney has always supported the Red Cross and they support community involvement," said Emergency Services Director Jennifer Perfect.
For more information and for those interested in volunteering in the program, visit and sign up online at www.disneyparks.com. Ticket quantities for this program are limited, so each individual can only receive one ticket no matter how many times they wish to volunteer.
There are a list of terms and conditions to abide by, such as children must be at least 6 years of age and be accompanied with a parent or guardian when volunteering. One must be 18 years or over to register to volunteer. You may register a maximum of eight individuals who live in your household.
To volunteer at the Red Cross, kids ages 6-17 can participate in every volunteer category, except disaster relief, while those 18 or over can partake in any category. The categories include: health and safety services, first aid, clerical support, disaster action team and transportation maintenance.
The program will last either until the tickets are distributed or Dec. 15, 2010, whichever comes first.
This is such an easy program for families to reach out to their communities and spend quality time together by helping others, Perfect said.
