Dozens of residents of a southwest Bakersfield neighborhood found their car and truck windows broken by vandals over the weekend.

Becky Sheldon said she and her husband, Tim, came back from the dog park Saturday evening to discover a window in his work truck had been partially shot out, apparently with a BB gun. A police car was in the area roughly south of Wilson Road and east of Real Road as other vehicles had been vandalized as well.

When the Sheldons woke up Sunday morning, a window in her Dodge Ram had been smashed out with a bat or similar large object.

"It was not just us," said Sheldon.

The Sheldons estimated more than 30 vehicles had been hit.

Becky Sheldon's daughter Rachel Legan, a morning co-host on KGFM 101.5, posted photos of damaged vehicles on her blog at rachelatkgfm.blogspot.com.

As of Sunday evening, Sheldon wasn't aware of anyone in the area who saw or heard the vandals at work.

"Nobody knows anything," she said.

A watch commander at the police department had no information about the incidents Sunday night.
