It might be Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but one local cleaning company has decided to focus on all the potential cancers women battle.
Clean Stride, a local, family-owned cleaning company, has been partnering with Cleaning For A Reason, an international nonprofit serving women with cancer, for more than a year. The goal of the partnership is to provide customers with a healthy indoor environment by removing indoor contaminants, says a company news release.
Clean Stride has agreed to help women battling cancer by cleaning two customers' homes per month for three consecutive months at no charge, said owner Adriana Olivares.
The company's reason for working with the nonprofit is very special and personal.
“Losing my mom to pancreatic cancer and personally knowing how hard it is on everyone when a loved one is going through treatment is the reason I wanted Clean Stride to be a part of Cleaning For A Reason,” said Olivares. “Our business is not glamorous but knowing a family will be coming home to a clean house and have one less thing to worry about that day is what it is all about. I am honored to give the gift of a clean home to women in need of assistance.
"These cancer patients must be able to focus on their health and family, not on cleaning their homes.”
Clean Stride is the only cleaning company is town that offers the service, according to Olivares, but they are hoping to have more companies join the mission.
If you or someone you know could benefit from Clean Stride's services, head to cleaningforareason.org. You must fill out an application, and Cleaning for a Reason will send it to Clean Stride.
The only requirement is that the homes be within the company’s existing service areas of Bakersfield, Shafter, Wasco, Delano, Arvin, Lamont, Tehachapi, Taft, and Frazier Park.
