Levi Strauss & Co. is coming to The Outlets at Tejon.

A 4,536-square-foot Levi’s Outlet Store is set to open next month, offering jeans, casual wear and accessories. It will offer a $15 discount on purchases of $100 or more on opening day Oct 8.

The store will join more than 70 other tenants already operating at the year-old outlet center. Levi Strauss has about 2,700 retail spaces in more than 110 countries.

Bakersfield’s single-family home market cooled a bit last month, according to new data from local appraiser Gary Crabtree.

A preliminary report Crabtree released Tuesday says the number of sales closing last month dipped 6.7 percent from July to 581, 2.5 percent less than a year before. Meanwhile, the inventory of homes listed for sale in August rose 1.4 percent from July’s total to reach 1,650, or 14.3 percent more than in August 2014.

The median sale price in August was listed as $225,000. That was 1.9 percent less than in July but 4.8 percent more than August 2014.

Crabtree pegged last month’s annual home appreciation rate at 6.34 percent. That represented a slight decrease from July’s 6.56 percent but a sizable drop from August 2014’s rate of 16.37 percent.

The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is on a winning streak.

The business group was named 2015 Chamber of the Year by the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.

On top of that, the local chamber’s chairwoman, Blodgie Rodriguez, won the state organization’s Latina Trailblazer Award, which honored her for paving the way for other Latinas.

Last year, the president and CEO of Kern’s chamber, Jay Tamsi, won the state organization’s Executive of the Year award.

Bakersfield-based COMMWorld of Kern County has won the top award at a recent industry gathering in Georgia.

The technology and telecommunications company received Technology Assurance Group’s Outstanding Sales & Customer Satisfaction Performance Award.

Coldwell Banker Preferred, Realtors recently celebrated its 25th anniversary as an affiliate of the Coldwell Banker network.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC’s president and CEO, Budget Huskey, recognized the milestone, saying he was “thrilled for Coldwell Banker Preferred, Realtors as they celebrate this anniversary.”

With offices on Ming Avenue and Coffee Road, the local affiliate consistently ranks among the national organization’s top performers.
