The Kern County Department of Human Services’ free JobFest series is coming to Bakersfield next week.

Bakersfield’s JobFest will be on March 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rabobank Convention Center, 1001 Truxtun Ave. Another JobFest will be held in Lake Isabella on March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kern River Valley Veterans Hall, 6405 Lake Isabella Blvd.

Additional JobFests are set for other Kern County communities through June.

The Department of Human Services urges job-seekers to dress professionally and come with at least 20 copies of their resume or application.

The Bakersfield City School District will hold its annual Math Bowl on Friday.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Cato Middle School, 4115 Vineland Road. More than 250 students are expected to compete as individuals or teams in various categories that test students’ problem-solving skills, ability to answer multiple-choice questions, provide written responses and more.

The Community Action Partnership of Kern Food Bank is looking for volunteers to help build food boxes for seniors on March 10.

The Delano Chamber of Commerce will host a Kern County Business Academy course for current and potential business owners starting on March 20.

An orientation and registration meeting will be held at the Chamber, 931 High St., at 6:30 p.m. for English speakers and 7 p.m. for Spanish speakers. The academy will go over how to plan for a business, find financing, growing your marketing skills, how to improve your existing business and more.

The free class is two hours a week over eight weeks. The course is sponsored by the Chamber in partnership with the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Bakersfield College and Wells Fargo.
