Cal State Bakersfield has been given the 2017 Champion for Higher Education award by the Campaign for College Opportunity.

The award is given to schools that excel at enrolling and graduating Associates Degree for Transfer earners. CSU Bakersfield was recognized for enrolling 236 such students in the 2016-17 school year.

CSUB was one of four universities and nine community colleges across the state to earn the award.

“Transfer should not be a maze. This year’s honorees are stellar examples of what can be done when leaders work together. Our honorees have redefined what is possible and as a result have helped thousands of students transfer and reach their educational goals,” said Michele Siqueiros, president of the Campaign for College Opportunity.

The research and advocacy organization is a California nonprofit focused on ensuring that students across the state have an equal opportunity to attend and succeed in college.
