The Bakersfield Police Department is partnering with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office to deliver 500 food baskets to families in need on Thursday.

The giveaway will take place at 7:30 a.m. at 5101 District Ave. Deputies and officers will hand out the boxes, which include a turkey, potatoes, beans, fruit, canned goods and more. Money and food was donated by business owners around the county.

The Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards luncheon Jan. 11.

The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Seven Oaks Country Club, located at 2000 Grand Lakes Ave. The event will honor several volunteers and partners, as well as formally install Carla Musser of Chevron as the 2018 chamber board chairwoman.
