Barber Honda is organizing a bone marrow drive for an employee, Sal Rivera, who needs to find a donor to save his life. The drive will take place at the dealership, 4500 Wible Road, this Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.

Rivera was diagnosed with a rare form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April 2016. After a year-long battle his cancer returned in 2017.

Innovative Engineering Systems Inc. and Electrical Systems and Instrumentation Inc. have merged their multi-state business and operations. The combined entity will operate as IES in Bakersfield and continue to operate as ESI in the Permian Basin of Texas. The company also has a Fresno office.

The company specializes in instrumentation, programming, control system and electrical construction services.

The merger signals a more significant investment by IES in food and beverage construction. The company will also continue to pursue broad-based engineering and construction offerings in renewable energy, specifically solar for commercial and industrial clients.
