Kern Schools Federal Credit Union will host “Community Recycling Day” from 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Saturday at its administrative offices, 11500 Bolthouse Drive, where people can bring items to shred, recyclables, e-waste and donations.

These are the event participants and the items that will be accepted:


Personal papers to shred, a limit of three bankers boxes. No business shredding is allowed.

Recyclables: cans, glass, plastics, newspapers, cardboard, books and magazines

Alianza Recovery and Recycling LLC:

eWaste: computers (towers, monitors, mice), TVs (all types), cell phones and more

The Golden Empire Habitat for Humanity ReStore:

New and nearly new windows: wood, vinyl and aluminum

Interior/exteriors doors: French doors, swing and sliders

Electrical fixtures, lights and fans

Tubs, toilets, sinks, vanities and faucets

Working appliances

Bike Bakersfield:

Gently used bicycles

Kern Green:

Used shoes: Shoes will be donated or recycled depending on condition.

R&S Recycling:

Non-working appliances

City of Bakersfield:

Large bulky waste collection:

• Unusable furniture: sofas, chairs, tables, desks, shelving units, mattresses, bed frames and dressers

• Unusable appliances: washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, microwave ovens and range tops

• Unusable outdoor toys/patio furniture

Houchin Community Blood Bank:

Donate blood and be entered to win Universal Studios  annual passes
