When Anaheim assigned defenseman Mark Mitera to the Condors on Saturday, the numbers no longer added up.

With Mitera, the fourth Anaheim-assigned D-man, the defensive corps swelled to nine -- a number not really sustainable at the ECHL level.

On Wednesday, that number was reduced to eight as the Condors released veteran defenseman Shaun Fisher.

Fisher did not play in Tuesday night's 3-2 victory over Stockton. He had five assists in 11 games but led the team in minor penalties with 13, fifth highest in the ECHL.

"Sadly enough we had to release him," said Condors coach Marty Raymond. "We have lots of young people who need to play and at this point of his career he needs to play and he wasn't going to get the ice time."

While Fisher has departed, forward Gino Guyer has arrived.

The Condors signed the fourth-year pro and he is making the trip to Alaska where the Condors face the Aces on Friday and Saturday nights.

"Gino is an energetic guy that works hard and finishes checks and he has speed as well," Raymond said. "He fits into the mold of the guys we have here, he has great character and we're happy to have him in Bakersfield."

Guyer, a fifth-round draft pick of Dallas in 2003, was a standout at the University of Minnesota from 2002-2006 where he amassed over 40 goals and 100 points.

Hampered by injuries his first two seasons, Guyer had 14 goals and 42 points in 58 games in 2007-08 and had 14 goals and 38 points in 71 games last season for the Phoenix RoadRunners.

Condors owner meets, listens

Condors owner Jonathan Fleisig was in town the past few days (the jinx must be over because Bakersfield won both games he attended) and met with sponsors and season ticket holders.

He had a luncheon with sponsors and then fielded questions from season ticket holders before Tuesday night's game, answering a variety of questions.

Fleisig, who lives in New York, said he always finds the interaction valuable.

Slap shots

Forward Mathieu Aubin, out since Oct. 30, is back skating with the team and should be able to play when the Condors return home Wednesday. Forward Maxime Macenauer, injured in that same game, is expected to be out around three more weeks.

The Condors have outscored opponents 16-12 in the second period and 13-8 in the third period. The first period has been the problem as Bakersfield has been outscored 14-8.
