It hasn't been a perfect season for Brad Pounds, but it's been pretty close.
Three IMCA Modified races at Bakersfield Speedway has produced three different winners but Pounds is the only driver to have finished all three feature races in the top three.
Pounds opened the season with win, finished third in his second outing and placed second at the third-mile clay oval two weeks ago.
Showing he is not a one-track wonder, Pounds raced to victory last Friday night in Chowchilla and again on Saturday night at Kings Speedway in Hanford.
Pounds will be looking to become the first two-time winner at Bakersfield Speedway on Saturday night as IMCA Modifieds will be one of four divisions in competition.
Also in action will be Super Streets in an East vs. West Shootout Series race, Hobby Stocks and Dwarf Cars.
Clay Daly and defending IMCA Modified track champion Gary Dutton have also won races this year but aren't even close to Pounds in the point race. Pounds is nine points up on Darren Hopkins, whose best finish thus far is third.
The Super Street race is third of the season and second East vs. West Series event. Tim Randolph of Santa Maria won the opening round of the East-West Series and Darrell Hood raced to victory in a regular race on March 15 with Randolph finishing second.
Four drivers have driven to victory in Hobby Stock action -- Richie McGowan, Jason Bannister, Wayne Dotson and Bruce Johnson -- but Justin Schweitzer is atop the point standings.
Racing will start at 6.
REED DRIVES TO LEGENDS WIN
Fourteen year-old Mark Reed drove to a Legends victory last Saturday night at Toyota Irwindale Speedway in just his second start on the third-mile infield oval course.
Reed, son of former Southwest Series and Grand National West racer Mark, started 10th in a 28-car field and took full advantage of some bumping, banging and spinning by those in front of him to put himself in position for the win. Reed took the lead when a driver spun, and then held on in a two-lap dash to the finish.
