HERB BENHAM: A discursive look at cursive confusion
I was tired. When you're tired, you see things that aren't there and don't see things that are. It happened last week. I was at a friend's house. I had walked in on a birthday celebration.

HERB BENHAM: Middle finger will heal; misunderstandings will take time
I broke my middle finger recently. You may be familiar with the finger, it's the big one -- Finger No. 3. -- between the thumb and index on one side and the ring and the pinky on the other.

Herb Benham: There it is again ... the look
I was at a party recently and it happened again. The host, after filling and refilling my wine glass with a purple zin from the Central Coast, sat on the couch next to me. He put his head down, lowered his voice, and then asked, "How are things at the paper?'

"The corn is delivered every other day, in crates of about 60 ears each. The crates are stacked and covered in ice to keep the corn cool and moist. After it is shucked, it is brushed to get rid of the loose corn tassels. Then the ears are cut on both ends, making them more attractive.

Herb Benham: Beavers, trees -- can't we all just get along?
Here's what I've noticed. Most people like animals more than they like people. Even if those animals are beavers.

Herb Benham: Central Coast brings me out of my fog
My impression of the Central Coast was that it was foggy. It is, but it wasn't last weekend, and when it's not, it has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. I don't know why I've been fighting it, but I have.

Herb Benham: Early Girls were a little late, but better late than never

Herb Benham: No one wants to be the sibling who did Dad in
My dad came to visit. He's good company. It's a treat to have him.
