The California Highway Patrol is asking for help locating the driver of a pickup that hit a pedestrian over the weekend then fled the scene.
The incident occurred at about 12:05 a.m. Sunday when a pickup hit Matthew J. Sullivan, 31, as he walked against a red pedestrian light across the intersection of Niles Street and Sterling Road, according to the CHP. The pickup swerved to avoid Sullivan but struck him with its right rear quarter panel and tire, inflicting major injuries.
The pickup continued traveling west without slowing or stopping.
The CHP released a surveillance image of the pickup and said it appears to be a newer model Chevrolet or GMC truck, dark-colored, single cab, lowered with oversize rims and tires. It should have minor damage to the right side.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Officer David Cabrera at 396-6600.
