DAVE LONG has opened his own real estate agency, Dave Long Realty. Formerly an agent and broker for Watson Realty, Long handles industrial and commercial sales and leases, as well as residential sales. The Bakersfield native said he intends to interview agents and open other offices in Kern County, starting with Tehachapi.

LINDA LAMB has joined Coldwell Banker, Preferred Realtors in its northwest office on Coffee Road. She has knowledge of short sale transactions and first-time homebuying. A licensed Realtor since 2007, she is a member of the Bakersfield Association of Realtors and the California Association of Realtors.

ISAAC DENNIS has joined Covenant Community Services as its International Coffee Coordinator. Dennis comes to Covenant from Charlotte, N.C., where he apprenticed in coffee roasting. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, majoring in biology with a sociology minor. He has worked with troubled youth in groups and youth camps and spent time with orphans in Africa. Dennis is to lead Covenant’s coffee ministry, teaching youths and young adults the coffee business.

TIM CALAHAN has joined Covenant Community Services as its Creative Media Director. He worked most recently as a general assignment reporter at KGET-Channel 17, and won a journalism excellence award from the Kern Press Club for a serious feature story he did for the station. In his new position, Calahan is to instruct local youth on video production, journalism, storytelling, marketing and self-confidence. Originally from Bellevue, Wash., Calahan attended Bellevue Community College and Bates Technical College, studying broadcast communications.

MIKE GRIGG has joined Elite Auctions of Bakersfield as its head auctioneer and sales coordinator. Grigg, a Bakersfield native and accredited real estate auctioneer, deals with private individuals, builders and banks that want to sell their property quickly at market value. HIs office is at 1700 Cherry St.

REED TOLLEFSON was recently awarded the Sierra Business Council’s Vision 2020 award. Tollefson, manager of Audubon California’s Kern River Preserve, was among five people honored for their contributions to the well-being of the Sierra Nevada. He started at the Kern River Preserve in 1987, working his way from riparian forest restoration technician to become manager of the preserve. He has helped landowners and others to protect more than 22,000 acres in ways that maintain communities’ rural nature and survive tough economic times. The Sierra Business Council is a nonprofit of more than 700 organizations and individuals working to promote collaboration in planning and policy-making since 1994.
