Community Action Partnership has received a $45,000 grant to expand an education program targeting low-income taxpayers.
The grant, which comes from American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funds, is intended to increase awareness of the earned income tax credit among low-income families in Bakersfield and now six outlying Kern County communities: Arvin, Delano, Frazier Park, McFarland, Shafter and Taft.
For information about this and the organization's other financial literacy programs, or to volunteer, call 336-5236 ext. 160.
Vintage Limousine is holding an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to celebrate its new location, 3001 Auto Mall Drive.
The event will include free barbecue and drinks and is open to the public.
The limo company moved from its previous location, 805 19th St., in July after it was purchased by new owners Rich and Laura Beierle.
The Kern County Black Chamber of Commerce will hold a Home-Based Business Expo 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
The event is free and open to the public, but there is a fee for parking. Booth space is available starting at $125.
