Dollar General and the California National Guard are co-sponsoring a job fair for Bakersfield-area Guardsmen, service members and veterans from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the Bakersfield National Guard Armory, 2800 Gateway Blvd.
Dollar General managers will accept applications and interview California National Guard soldiers, airmen and their spouses for more than 100 management and entry-level positions at its new Lebec/Tejon Ranch distribution center, as well as stores in and around Bakersfield.
Ethical implications of the mortgage crisis are the subject of a free panel discussion set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cal State Bakersfield's Kegley Institute of Ethics.
Scheduled to participate in the event's panel discussion inside CSUB's Student Union Multipurpose Room are Louis Gill, director of Bakersfield Homeless Center; Steve Renock, president and CEO of Kern Schools Federal Credit Union; and Aaron Hegde, CSUB associate professor of economics.

CarMax Inc., a national used car retailer, is hiring for about 50 positions at the company's new store in Bakersfield. The new 41,800-square-foot store opens April 19 at 6801 Colony St.

Kern Community College District's Business & Entrepreneurship Center is co-sponsoring a free wine exports symposium Feb. 23 at Cuesta College in Atascadero.
The event's highlight is expected to be a live market briefing from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Services in Hong Kong.
The symposium is intended to increase California wine exports. Sponsors and presenters are to include the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export-Import Bank of the United States, Embassy Wine Distributors and JIB International Freight-Forwarding.
