To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, Bakersfield in-line skate store Intuition Skate Shop will give away free food and host a demonstration performance by world famous stunt skater Chris Haffey.
Visitors can munch hamburgers, hot dogs and cookies while watching Haffey perform stunts and sign autographs. He's on a statewide tour promoting his Remedy Pro Skate, which retails for $299.
The demo kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday at Intuition, 705 18th St.
A Bakersfield couple launched their third Medicine Shoppe franchise this month at 5601 Auburn St., unit B.
The store is owned by pharmacists Manish and Anjali Somani, who opened their first Medicine Shoppe in Lamont in September 2000.
The store fills prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medications, durable medical equipment and other products.
Porterville-based Bank of the Sierra announced that it recently made donations to two charitable organizations.
The bank said it contributed $1,000 to the American Heart Association to help buy and distribute Spanish-language educational materials at health fairs and other events.
The bank said it also gave $3,500 to California Law Enforcement's Wish Upon A Star, which grants wishes to children ages 3 to 18 who face life-threatening illnesses or otherwise are considered to be at high risk.
