Owners of Bakersfield's Hooters restaurant franchise have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Sacramento County Superior Court.

The suit, which also names as defendants Hooters of America Inc., alleges various violations of California's wage and labor laws at other Central Valley Hooters locations owned by the same franchisee, Parco Holdings LP. Among the allegations are accusations that employees were ordered to work off the clock and buy their own work uniforms.

The suit seeks class-action status. It was filed on behalf of one existing employee and four former employees, none of whom worked at the Bakersfield restaurant. The Oakland lawyer who filed the suit, Burton Boltuch, said at least one employee in Bakersfield has made similar accusations and may be added to the list of plaintiffs.

Parco executives could not be reached for comment. A manager at the company's Fresno Hooters restaurant, who declined to identify herself, said, "as far as we're concerned we've done nothing wrong."
