The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has updated its allocation for water users supplied by the federal Central Valley Project water system.

Agriculture south of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta still will receive no water allocation, which is unchanged from February. Municipal and industrial deliveries also are unchanged from last month at half of what their contracts call for.

North of the delta, the allocation rose from zero to 5 percent for agriculture, and from 50 percent to 55 percent for urban users.

The March allocation was updated based on the most conservative snowmelt runoff forecast by the California Department of Water Resources.

It will be updated again next month, and possibly again in May, based on the latest snowpack data.

The California Department of Water Resources on Wednesday announced it would increase the State Water Project allocation to 20 percent.

That’s up from 15 percent in December 2008.
