Some Bright House cable subscribers who use Tivo but don't have a digital cable television box are having trouble finding certain channels because of a technical glitch.
The problem was sparked by Bright House initiating a digital line-up change for channels 40-75. Tribune Media Service, a third party vendor that supplies Tivo users with TV listings for near-term programming, updated the channels for both analog and digital, but Bright House only changed the lineup for digital.
Bright House customers who have a digital box were not affected. Only subscribers who have just standard cable are having problems. They can manually plug in the channels to watch and record them, but the channels don't show up in the Tivo channel guide.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Tivo said, "This is not a widespread issue and all organizations involved are aware and working toward a fix which we imagine will be in place shortly."
Bright House said it began hearing from affected customers Tuesday, and that the problem should be corrected sometime "in the next day or two," said spokeswoman Colleen Dillaway.
Tivo is a digital recording service that keeps track of television programs and automatically records episodes of a given show, even if the day or time they air changes.
