Global energy services provider Applus RTD has become the latest company to set up shop at North Meadows Business Park.

The Dutch-based company, known for testing, inspecting and certifying petroleum pipelines, recently took possession of a 25,000-square-foot, build-to-suit facility at the business park. The new site allows the company to consolidate three locations into one.

Colliers International’s Stephen Haupt, Wesley McDonald and Oscar Baltazar represented Applus and facility developer Wonderful Real Estate Development in the deal.

Other companies at North Meadows include TCi-Tire Centers, Williams Scotsman, United Rentals, Precision Pump and Schlumberger.

The parent company of Porterville-based Bank of the Sierra has cleared the final hurdle to acquiring San Luis Obispo-based Coast Bancorp, owner of Coast National Bank.

The deal announced in January was approved Monday by Coast shareholders. Bank of the Sierra’s holding company, Sierra Bancorp, said all required regulatory approvals have been received and the transaction is expected to close July 8 or thereabouts.

Pairing Sierra's $1.8 billion asset base with Coast's $144 million gives a financial institution with three branches in Bakersfield and many others around Kern County a lucrative opportunity to expand into the Central Coast.

Tobias Real Estate is now Century 21 Tobias Real Estate.

As announced this week, the Bakersfield residential and commercial brokerage opened in 2007 by husband and wife Scott and Darlene Tobias has affiliated with Century 21 Real Estate LLC. The local franchise will remain independently owned and operated.

“Changes in technology and marketing continue to disrupt the real estate business, and we’re fortunate to have a partner as strong as Century 21 Real Estate to help us experience continued success,” Scott Tobias said in a news release.

Makeup retailer Urban Decay has opened a freestanding store at Valley Plaza, a second for the Newport Beach-based company.

The opening was done in partnership with Macy’s, which carries a limited selection of Urban Decay products.

A UD news release said the new location offers a full range of company products, as well as exclusive merchandise such as makeup bags, T-shirts and brushes.
