Two women have been arrested and two male suspects remain at large in connection with a home invasion robbery Wednesday during which the victim was beaten with a baseball bat, sheriff's officials said.
Deputies were dispatched at about 5:20 a.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Dwina Avenue, north of China Grade Loop and east of Manor Street, to a report of assault with a deadly weapon.
They arrived to find a male victim with major injuries to his head and body from being struck with a bat, according to sheriff's officials. Deputies learned two women and to males entered the residence, assaulted the victim and stole items. They left in the victim's car.
The stolen car was found soon after and stopped in the 400 block of Wilson Avenue, sheriff's officials said. Its occupants, Savannah Johnson, 24, and Christal Rutter, 34, were found in possession of other items belonging to the victim.
The two were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, among other offenses.
