Three drivers were arrested and 11 were cited on suspicion, for driving under the influence or without a driver's license, during a routine BPD DUI and driver's license checkpoint on Saturday night.

The checkpoint was in the 8600 block of Hageman Road and was conducted from 6 p.m. on Saturday night to 2 a.m. Sunday morning, the BPD news release said.

Of the 1093 vehicles that were screened, nine drivers were also detained by the BPD to be further evaluated on their levels of sobriety, the release said.

The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they suspect an impaired driver, the release said.

Funding for the DUI/Drivers License checkpoint comes from a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Program, the BPD said.
