A junior high teacher charged with five felonies admitted to engaging in sex acts with a former student and described the anatomy of that student and another in text messages, according to newly released court filings.
Vanessa Jean Hooker, 34, told investigators she had sexual contact with a former Beardsley Junior High student who is now in high school, the filings say. She at first said nothing more than kissing occurred, but under further questioning said they engaged in sex acts.
The encounter occurred in her classroom before school began after she texted the boy to meet her there to lend her a sports jersey, according to the filings.
At one point, Hooker told investigators the boy prompted the contact. Numerous text messages, however, showed Hooker pursued the former students, the filings say.
Hooker is free on bail and her next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 25.
Investigators began looking into the case Dec. 15 after the mother of one of the alleged victims reported to school officials that she had found “extremely inappropriate and sexual” text messages sent from Hooker to her son.
In the messages, Hooker described the anatomy of the victims, the filings say. She said her husband no longer provided her with sexual pleasure and she needed to find an outlet for those desires.
The alleged victims are a 14-year-old and two 16-year-olds.
Hooker has been ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victims or with anyone under the age of 18, with the exception of her own children.
She taught science at Beardsley Junior High, and was also involved with Project Lead the Way, a national nonprofit organization that focuses on providing science, technology, engineering and math programs to students from kindergarten to high school.
