Late Thursday, deputies received a report of personal property in the Kern River Canyon, possibly related to a woman missing since April. They found a submerged vehicle in the river nearby, according to sheriff's officials.

It's believed the items may be connected to the disappearance of Lisa Harvey, 51, who was last seen April 29 in Palmdale, sheriff's officials said.

Heavy equipment is necessary to retrieve the vehicle, sheriff's officials said, and a recovery effort will begin Saturday morning.

The westbound lane of Highway 178 will be closed beginning at 9 a.m., with both eastbound and westbound lanes closing from 10:30 a.m. to about 1 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

The exact location of the recovery area was not provided Friday.
