A Bakersfield Police officer and a passenger in another vehicle were injured Saturday in a crash in southeast Bakersfield.

The BPD reports that the officer was traveling southbound on Cottonwood Road near Bradshaw Street and collided into another southbound vehicle while merging into the flow of traffic. The officer did not see the other involved vehicle, police report.

Both reported only minor injuries. The officer was treated at the scene and the passenger of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital with a report of pain.

Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the collision. 

The intersection of Cottonwood and Bradshaw was closed for a short time during the early evening investigation.
