A man was arrested Tuesday after police say he led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle and was in possession of a stolen gun.

The slow-speed pursuit began after officers tried to stop the vehicle in the 1500 block of Alameda Avenue, Bakersfield police said. The driver instead led officers on a short chase during which he threw a loaded, stolen gun out the window.

The gun was later recovered by officers, police said.

The driver, Mario Santacruz, was arrested on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, drug possession and carrying a concealed stolen firearm, police said.
