A man was stuck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night on California Avenue.

Bakersfield Police officers responded to a call at about 8:15 p.m. of a vehicle collision in the 5000 block of California Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found out a man was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a car.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a BPD news release. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release his identity at a later time.

BPD said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs and speeding don't appear to be factors in this collision, said a news release.
