A pedestrian was struck by two vehicles and killed in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday.

The Bakersfield Police Department said that at around 6:15 p.m., officers were sent to the 4000 block of Ming Avenue after getting a report of a collision in the area. Officers learned that a man had been crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck.

The department said the truck left the area after hitting the man. A short time later, another vehicle struck the pedestrian while he was laying in the road. The second driver stayed at the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as 56-year-old Lee Joseph Wilson, was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The hit-and-run is still under investigation. No one has been arrested in the case.
