One person was killed Wednesday morning in south Bakersfield when a car collided with a pickup towing a flatbed trailer and the trailer detached and hit a third vehicle.

Police said the incident occurred at about 5:55 a.m. at the intersection of Wible and Wilson roads.

A man driving a black sedan west on Wilson entered the intersection and collided with a pickup heading north on Wible, according to police. The pickup's trailer became disconnected and hit a white sedan stopped in the southbound left turn lane.

The driver of the black sedan died at the scene, police said. He has not been identified.

The pickup driver suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the white sedan was uninjured. Police said the investigation is ongoing and officers are looking into whether alcohol or drug use was a factor.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
