A man was found suffering from a stab wound to his torso on Panama Lane, Saturday night, the Bakersfield Police Department reported.

Officers arrived at about 6:30 p.m. responding to a call of someone being chased by someone with a knife near Panama Lane and Colony Street. Officers found a man suffering from a stab wound at the Chevron gas station, 2301 Panama Lane, the news release said.

The victim was then taken to a hospital and treated for serious injuries that were not considered to be life threatening, the BPD said. 

The BPD also found the suspect, Gregory Kinion, 40, in the 2200 block of Panama Lane and he was detained without incident, according to the press release. 

Investigating officers found that the two men had a verbal altercation, when one of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The BPD said Kinion then chased the victim, whose name has not been revealed, with a knife, westbound on Panama Lane. According to the news release, many residents witnessed the incident and notified law enforcement.  

Kinion was booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
