A Bakersfield man accused of trying to firebomb a house with Molotov cocktails was sentenced to prison Tuesday.

Marco Anthony Gutierrez, 27, received an eight-year prison term after pleading no contest last month to one count each of attempted murder and attempted arson.

Seven other charges — including five other counts of attempted murder — were dismissed under the plea agreement.

According to court documents, Gutierrez tried to throw Molotov cocktails at his ex-girlfriend's family's residence in the 6200 block of Landfair Drive in southwest Bakersfield.

The first Molotov cocktail extinguished itself when it hit the house; the second did not ignite after being thrown.

Two adults and four children were in the house at the time of the April 15, 2014, attack, according to the documents.
