A 23-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to nine years and four months in prison in connection with strangling a south Bakersfield man four years ago.

Ethan Wiley was homeless at the time of the Sept. 20, 2013, killing of 53-year-old Terrence Tsitakis. His thumbprint and strands of hair were found inside Tsitakis' house in the 3900 block of Bianchi Way.

Arrested more than two years after the killing, Wiley denied involvement in Tsitakis' death and said he didn't know him, according to court documents.

He pleaded no contest last month to voluntary manslaughter and five counts of grand theft. Charges of murder and robbery were dismissed.
