A 25-year-old man went missing in the Kern River Thursday evening after jumping into the river near his camp near Keysville, according to sheriff's officials.

Volunteers from the Sheriff's Office search and rescue team arrived within minutes after the man went missing around 5 p.m., sheriff's officials said. Additionally, Kern County firefighters searched from the air, but the search teams were unable to find him.

The search was suspended for the night and resumes this morning.
