Four assault rifles, ammunition and more was found during a vehicle and home search on Wednesday.

A man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of being in possession of four assault rifles, the same type used in the recent shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida that killed 17 people.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said 34-year-old Eric Palmer was found driving in the 1000 block of Quincy St. After deputies conducted a traffic stop on him, they did a search of his vehicle and reportedly found an AR-15 rifle and a high-capacity magazine.

Deputies then conducted a search of his residence and found three more AR-15s as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Palmer was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of multiple firearms and ammunition and possession of assault weapons.

Arrested on "suspicion" of being a felon in possession of weaponry? Is he a convicted felon or isn't he? If so, there's no suspicion.

Please get your facts straight before writing a 'fake news story'. The definition of an "assault rifle" is a weapon the military generally uses and has "select fire capabilities," or the capability to switch between semi-automatic or a fully automatic mode. However, the civilian AR-15s do not have the select fire capabilities, only semi-automatic settings, so they are not an actual assault rifle or assault weapon. The person who was arrested may have been in possession of an AR-15 that looks like the dreaded "assault weapon" but it wasn't an assault weapon.

Technically not an assault rifle, can be described as assault style rifle. But I don't think the 31 people in Florida really care that Cruz could only get off 45 rounds a minute, although the rest are probably glad he couldn't get off 600. Here's what I got out this story besides the error. A felon was in possession of 4 Assault "style" rifles and it looks like illegal high capacity magazines. Put him away.
