A Bakersfield man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and mayhem in a stabbing Tuesday evening in Kernville.

Deputies arrested Dennis Allen Welch, 40, Wednesday morning in the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive in Wofford Heights, according to sheriff's officials. He's being held on $750,000 bail.

Investigators determined Welch and the victim were involved in an argument that led to the stabbing in the 11300 block of Kernville Road. The victim is in stable condition.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 861-3110.
