The remains found Saturday in the South Lake area were animal, not human, Kern County sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt said Monday.

The remains were found in the 4100 block of Fiddleneck Street.

Two fatalities have been confirmed since the fire erupted Thursday in the Lake Isabella area and burned more than 45,388 acres. Containment is at 40 percent.
