The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a child who was murdered in Lake Isabella last year.
Nine-month-old Seraphim Ould-Johnson was killed on June 23 in the 2600 block of Crestview Avenue in Lake Isabella. Deputies were sent to a residence in the area after they received a report that the girl was not breathing. She was transported to Kern Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Sheriff’s Office said that in examining Ould-Johnson’s body, the cause of death was determined to be acute neck compression, a type of strangulation. The death was then categorized as a homicide.
The department didn’t provide any additional information on whether any suspects have been arrested.
The Sheriff’s Office has also released the names of two people who died earlier this month.
Markus Lynn Callahan, 46, was killed in a bicycle-related accident on Feb. 8, according to the department.
At around 3:35 p.m., Callahan was riding a bicycle on Palm Avenue just north of Gromer Avenue in Wasco when he was struck by a pickup truck. Callahan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The case has been categorized as an accident, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A Tehachapi State Prison inmate who was killed by another inmate on Feb. 16 has been identified as 37-year-old Kevin Scott Mansfield.
The Sheriff’s Office said Mansfield was assaulted at around 11:03 p.m. The department is still working to confirm the cause and circumstances of the death.
