A Kern County Superior Court judge Friday found there was sufficient evidence for Redlands firefighter Jonathan Michael Hearn to go to trial for allegedly murdering his lover’s husband.
Hearn was arrested Nov. 18, 2014, after being accused of killing his girlfriend’s husband on Aug. 17. Robert Limon, 38, was found dead with two gunshot wounds to the head at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway industrial complex in Tehachapi.
The victim’s wife, Sabrina Limon, exchanged thousands of text messages with Hearn prior to the homicide, according to court documents. In one message, Hearn told the wife that with her husband out of the picture, they could live their lives together.
Also at the preliminary hearing Friday, prosecutors said they would not seek the death penalty.
Hearn faces a charge of first degree murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 5.
