Four people were rescued from the Kern River on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 12 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received a report of a person who fell off a kayak and was stranded on an island just downstream from Riverview Park in Kernville, according to a sheriff's news release.

Volunteers from the sheriff's search and rescue team brought the person to shore.

Five hours later, Tulare County Sheriff's Office received a report of three people stranded in the middle of the Kern River, the release said. Another Kern search and rescue team headed to the area and retrieved the three young men from the river just downstream from McNally's Restaurant.

No injuries were reported in either of the incidents.
