A single-wide trailer was destroyed in a fire in Canebreak Tuesday evening.

Four cats and two dogs died in a trailer fire east of Onyx Tuesday evening, Kern County firefighters said.

The blaze was reported around 6:30 p.m. in the 22000 block of Tommy Avenue in Canebreak, according to firefighters. Two occupants got out of the single-wide trailer with two dogs, but the other pets died in the fire that engulfed the structure.

The trailer was destroyed; a nearby travel trailer was saved. Cause of the blaze is unknown.
