An ex-professional football player from Bakersfield is the primary suspect in the death of his wife, according to the Park City Police Department in Utah.

Police said on Friday that 46-year-old Anthony McClanahan is suspected of killing his wife, 28-year-old Keri McClanahan, on Thursday in a condominium in Park City. Police said she died due to a knife wound on the neck.

McClanahan is now in police custody at the Summit County Jail.

According to the Deseret News, he had recently been released from the Salt Lake County Jail after he was arrested and charged for kidnapping his 3-year-old son.

The Deseret News said that McClanahan had taken the boy from his school in Arizona on Oct. 3. They were eventually found in Salt Lake City by police on Oct. 12, at which point McClanahan was arrested and his son was returned to his mother.

McClanahan played at football at Bakersfield High School before moving on to Washington State and the Dallas Cowboys. He also played four years in the Canadian Football League.
