Two suspects escaped and a third was arrested Tuesday after Kern County Sheriff’s deputies beleive they stole a car at gunpoint and led police on a pursuit, according to a department news release.

The three suspects were traveling in a van at about 10:30 p.m., and one was armed with a handgun, when they carjacked a driver in a Honda. The suspects took the driver’s keys and fled, according to the news release.

When deputies arrived, they found the van abandoned near Lake and Vale streets, the release continued.

Just before midnight, deputies in the Lamont area found the stolen Honda near Habecker and Segrue roads and attempted to pull it over, but the suspects fled before crashing into a parked car.

The driver, a 15-year-old boy, was caught and arrested. The other two ran away. Ammunition was found in the car, but no weapon was recovered.
