A 55-year-old woman is charged with murder in the death of her adult son in California City.
Cynthia Ramirez Gulley is accused of stabbing to death 35-year-old Christian David Gulley early Feb. 20 at a residence in the 8000 block of Hemlock Avenue, according to coroner's and police reports.
Also found dead at the home was 80-year-old Shelton Patrick Gulley, Cynthia Gulley's husband. His cause of death is pending further investigation.
According to a probable cause declaration filed by California City police, officers were dispatched to the Gulley residence at 2:42 a.m. to a report of a woman claiming there were two dead bodies in the house and she had tried to kill herself.
During the 911 call, the woman, identified as Gulley, said her son wanted her to take his life, the document states. Officers forced their way inside the home and found Gulley on top of her son, who had been stabbed multiple times to the chest and neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cynthia Gulley suffered multiple superficial stab wounds to her abdomen, the declaration states, and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
Shelton Gulley had been on hospice for multiple health problems and his body showed no signs of trauma, according to the declaration.
Gulley is set to be formally arraigned March 7.
