The Bakersfield Police Department will deploy additional officers beginning Monday to look for unbuckled drivers and passengers for the national two-week Click It or Ticket campaign.

Officers will be stopping and ticketing those not using seat belts, police said. That includes those who fail to secure children in proper child restraint seats.

“Seat belts save lives, and everyone needs to remember to buckle up every trip, every time,” BPD Chief Lyle Martin said in a news release.
