A body found in the Kern River on Friday has been identified as that of a woman who went missing in mid-February, according to the coroner's office.

The body of Shayla Marie Wingle, 39, was found around 3 p.m. a half mile west of Kern Canyon Road in Lake Isabella, a coroner's release said. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause and manner of death.

Wingle was last seen on Presidents Day weekend when she and her husband stopped about three miles east of Highway 178 on Old Kern Canyon Road, according to sheriff's officials. Authorities said the couple experienced car trouble and their vehicle ended up in a ditch.
