The body of a man was found floating in a canal at the City Corporation Yard Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the yard at 1:09 p.m. and were told city employees saw the man, who was unresponsive, and used poles to prevent him from moving downstream, according to a Bakersfield Police Department release.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said foul play is not suspected.

The man's name has not yet been released.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
