Police have made an arrest in a deadly shooting at a sports bar over the weekend.
Luis Pineda, 25, was booked on suspicion of murder after being arrested Sunday in Lamont, according to police. A firearm believed used in the shooting was found in a front yard of a residence in the 9800 block of Buzz Street where Pineda was taken into custody.
Police were dispatched to the Red Zone Sports Bar & Grill at 3351 Panama Lane early Sunday to a report of a shooting. Officers found a man, later identified as Christopher Isaac Rodriguez, 33, suffering from gunshot wounds outside the business, according to police and coroner's officials.
Rodriguez was taken to Kern Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 50 minutes after the 1:48 a.m. shooting, according to the coroner's office.
A witness provided a suspect and suspect vehicle description, including a license plate, leading officers to the Lamont address, police said. Ammunition in the suspect vehicle matched shell casings found at the scene.
Pineda is due in court Tuesday.
